Sculpting Large Forms: 1-Day Workshop on May 25th
10am - 5pm in Chatham, NY
with an Asian street food-inspired lunch provided by Haema Hospitality
During this immersive ceramic workshop, participants will learn how to handbuild both opened and closed ceramic forms on a large scale (works that are up to 20" H x 20" W). We will go over various coiling and slab techniques, surface texture, and what to be aware of when building larger works. Everyone will receive group and individual instruction.
Students will choose a glaze from my studio which I will later apply to their work and fire for them. Alternatively, if students are experienced with glazing, they may pick up their bisqued work soon after the workshop and glaze their piece at home before returning it for the second firing.
Clay, the cost of bisque and glaze firings, and lunch will all be included. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup 4 - 6 weeks after the workshop, or they may be shipped or delivered for an additional fee.
This workshop is perfect for artists, designers, and creatives who are interested in learning how to sculpt with clay outside of a traditional pottery class setting. Previous experience with clay is recommended, but not necessary.
